What's Your Favorite Flavor?

If you're like all of us at Mod Dog Boutique, you love this time of year! Fall has taken hold, the days are short, the nights are cold, and holiday cheer is all around. There are twinkling lights down main street, festive decorations in the neighborhood, and at home, there's the sweet scent of hot apple cider. Let's not forget the best part. The smell of pumpkin pie in the oven! OK, for those who know me, you're scratching your head about now, questioning the pumpkin pie. I'll confess. It's not exactly pumpkin pie, but it smells like it! Instead, it's actually homemade Pumpkin Dog Treats! That's right - one of Wilson's favorites! He loves homemade dog treats and this time of year, it's the pumpkin treats that we all love the most. Partially because they smell so good when they're baking, but also because Wilson does cart wheels when he smells them, and he'll stand on his ear if he thinks it would earn him an extra one, or two treats! We want you to have this fabulous holiday dog treat recipe so you can treat your own Mod Dog to a special homemade treat this holiday season!

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin - canned
  • 2 tablespoons dry milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 1/2 cups brown rice flour *
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Combine eggs and pumpkin in a large bowl, whisk until smooth.
  • Add dry milk, sea salt, and dried parsley (if using, optional) - stir into the egg and pumpkin mixture.
  • Add brown rice flour gradually. Dough will be dry and stiff - turn and combine until completely mixed.
  • Knead dough briefly on a lightly floured surface, pressing dough to work out remaining roughness.
  • On a lighly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4 – 1/2″ thickness and cut out biscuits with a cookie cutter and place shapes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Add optional fork-pressed patterns on biscuits before baking.
  • Total bake time is 40 minutes.
  • Check at 20 minutes and carefully turn biscuits over, then bake the remaining 20 minutes.
  • Before sharing these yummy Pumpkin Dog Treat Biscuits to your dog, cool completely on a rack.
  • Yield ~75 small biscuits or 50 medium biscuits. Enjoy!
